For many of the swimmers the meet was a first, and the seasoned swimmers all took off time off their personal bests.
Travis Coates fared very well and was the individual high point getter for the the boys’ 11-12 age group, C division.
Another outstanding athlete was Mackenzie Manchester, who took off a combined total of 53.75 seconds on all her events.
“We still have room to improve for upcoming meets in Delta (July 3-4) and Montrose (July 10-12) in order to get all our swimmers qualified for Western Slopes Championship, Summer Club Championship and Colorado State Long Course Meet (Junior Olympics),” head coach Torie Slagle said.
Today at 6 p.m. the team will be hosting a Swim-a-thon as its annual fundraising event.
The swimmers look forward to this event each year, many setting the goal to finish 200 laps in two hours, Slagle said.
“We appreciate all those who have sponsored the team in this event and your Rangely Hurricanes swim team,” she said.
