RANGELY I The Rangely High School girls’ volleyball team had a little bit of a break during the weekend as they played only one match and finished Caprock Academy off easily in three games on Friday night.

The match was their “Pink Out” match and all proceeds went to Rio Blanco County Mammogram Program. Rangely wasted no time taking control of the match as they won the first game 25-12 behind a team serving percentage of 88 percent.
Katye Allred led the team with 17 serves and five aces followed by Antoinette Dorris with 14 serves and two aces. Katelyn Brown added 11 serves with four aces, Heinle had nine serves with two aces and Lindzey Thacker added eight serves with no errors.
The attacks were solid as Dorris had 20 assists, seven to Katelyn Brown, and Sarah Connor for the kills, and four to Thacker. Allred added three kills, and Sierra Brannen had one.
The team was solid on defense as Justyne Dembowski led with five digs, Brown added four while Carroe Goddard and Simone Heinle each added four as well.
Helping get the ball to the hitters was Brannen with six assists, and Desiree Coombs with two.
The team came out for a cause and took care of business Friday night, winning the match handily in three games.
The Rangely girls will have their parents night honoring the seniors on Friday against Southern Route County (SoRoCo) with games at 4, 5 and 6 p.m.
The team will play Caprock Acadamy again on Saturday and then head into the start of post-season play.
The Rangely team is building momentum going into their postseason matches, and the squad looks to be a threat as the season heads into its climax.
