The Rangely Panthers celebrate after beating the Hotchkiss Bulldogs 7-6 in the first game of a doubleheader Friday.
Senior Chad Bolding is pictured getting a hit for his team. The Panthers finished third behind second-place Hotchkiss and first-place Paonia in the league standings and will host the Meeker Cowboys in the first round of the district playoffs Saturday starting at 11 a.m.
It wasn’t until the last week of the regular season when weather allowed the Meeker High School baseball team to host games. Although the field was in good condition, the team did not utilize the home field advantage, losing a non-league doubleheader to the Basalt Longhorns on Thursday and to the league champion Paonia Eagles on Saturday.
Meeker will play in Rangely at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the first round of the playoffs.
