• Clark’s surveying party left for the Grand River Monday morning where Mr. Clark has some big contracts on hand.

• Weighing horses and betting on the results have been favorite amusement with the boys the past week.

• Captain Mike Drum is about to put on a buckboard between Meeker and Rangely and will handle express matters or packages between above named places.

• Sixty-five 4-H members enjoyed a camping trip on the White River national forest.

• County Judge May Norman passed sentence on three local boys on Tuesday in the Rio Blanco county court. These three boys were arrested in early June and charged with having molested a young girl the night of the Fireman’s dance.

• Mrs. Nick Theos was re-elected president of the Colorado Wool Growers Association last week.

• A bridal shower for Mrs. Ann Sheridan Turner was held on Monday of this week at Kilowatt Korner with Helen Seely, Liz Watt, Eve Seely and Shirley Harp as hostesses.

• The summer’s calm was broken this past week as the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Department reports several thefts totaling $3,790 have occurred, while the BLM states that the fire that filled the valley with smoke Monday afternoon was man-started.

• The rattlesnake element seems to be thriving in the type of weather the community has been experiencing. A word of caution to everyone who happens to be in the vicinity of the fairgrounds arena and parking lot, ballfield and Sulphur Creek road. Several snakes have reportedly been seen and killed in these areas this week and last.

• The Rangely oil field is assured of a long life ahead, even after over 20 years of production, starting in 1945.

• Miss Gloria Brady and Alan R. Nielsen, both of Rangely, were married at 8 p.m. on July 16 in the LDS church.

• Kent Oldham and Brent Hardy were Rangely’s players of the week in baseball.

• Denver Nuggets coach Larry Brown, honorary chairman of the 1976 MS READ-a-thon, reports that his committee is working on details for the national MS educational and fundraising campaign.

• Beth Hayes and Judy Powell participated in the hunter-jumper horse show in Grand Junction July 17.

• JoDee Padilla announced the birth of her daughter, Timindra Joan, born in Grand Junction on June 14.
