  • The Down on Alcohol group from the eighth grade through the MHS senior class participated in a bowling and movie night.
  • A census found 535 bald eagles in Colorado.
  • Bob Story hosted a birthday dinner party at Tommy’s Supper Club to honor his sister, Dorothy Kehrberger, R.G. Lyttle and Iola Hicken.

  • The Meeker Lions Club and Meeker High School hosted British Consul Stephen P. House.
  • Meeker and Rangely organized a county-wide TV association.
  • The Meeker High School students who went to Denver last week for the state basketball tournament received their share of publicity while in the capital city. Lorin Shults, Bill Dunham, Don Wilson and Jim Lancaster were pictured in the Rocky Mountain News enjoying a game of pool at their hotel. On Friday, the Rocky pictured Bill Jordan going after a rebound in the Meeker-Alamosa game. Connie Ebler and Walt Brown rated a four-column front page photo on the balcony of the state capitol.

  • Nichols Market celebrated 85 years of service to the community.
  • Rangely High School presented the “Wizard of Oz” as their spring musical production with Chrystal AuMiller as Dorothy, Andrew Crookston as the Scarecrow, Mary Lou Allred as the Tinman, and Jarrod McDonald as the Cowardly Lion.
