n In the hotly contested 1908 presidential election, Taft and Sherman beat Bryan and Kern. Colorado went Democratic, not only for Bryan but the entire state ticket.
n “Cleanliness in milk and butter a necessity.”
n Ernest Baer departed for Salt Lake yesterday after spending the summer and fall on the K-T Ranch, acting as assistant manager.
n Powell Park items: Snow has disappeared in the Park.
n Mr. Hugh Jones and Miss Bessie Wilson were married Tuesday evening at the residence of the bride’s brother, Claude Wilson. This popular young couple have a host of friends in this community and in the upriver region all of whom will join with The Herald in wishing them a happy and prosperous married life.

n Mr. Guy Stealey reported October the driest month he could remember upriver. The high temperature for the month was 74 and the low 11.
n Rio Blanco County cast a record vote in Tuesday’s election, with Republicans taking six county office and Democrats three. More than 2100 people cast ballots countywide.
n At the Tom Murray Market, canned biscuits, two for 25 cents. Longhorn cheese, 45 cents per pound. Pikes Peak flour, 10 lbs. For 89 cents.
n The “Morning Glory” house dress, “flower fresh the whole day through” in woven, combed cotton, $5.98 at A. Oldland & Company.
n A Saturday class for twirlers has been started by Mrs. Dale Jens, high school director of music. Besides twirling, youngsters will be taught posture, balance, marching and showmanship.

n Meeker received its first taste of winter weather Nov. 9, 1983, with a night-long drizzle that eventually turned into snow. Bob Hilkey of Adams Lodge said they received about six inches overnight.
n Dane Edward Swanson celebrated his first birthday, Nov. 9, 1983.
n Meeker Christian Church planned a revival and mortgage burning Thanksgiving banquet.
n Kathy Norton and Mike Seely announced their engagement and forthcoming marriage.
n Regas K. Halandras, prominent sheepman, passed away at the age of 87.
n Meeker Intermediate School fifth-grade honor roll: Lena Bates, Laura Cox, Pegge Halandras, Denise Jordan, Kayn Michels, Chris Washburn and Vonda Kay Vandiver.
n “Hunters be wary of diseased rabbits.”
n Selected to the NWL’s all-conference football team were seniors Stan Stewart and Keenan Turner.

n Icy roads in early November 1973 caused a series of accidents in the west end of the county.
n Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Stewart announced the birth of a daughter, Sheila Marie, born Nov. 2 at Rangely Hospital.
n A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Terry Minshall of Rangely on Oct. 25 at Pioneers Hospital, named Brandi Gayle Minshall.
n 46 oz. Hi-C grape-orange drink, three for $1 at Bestway. Western Seas tuna, 39 cents a can. Western Family frozen five loaf package bread dough, 98 cents.

n Don Davis and Joe Collins won their seats as county commissioners in the 1988 election. George Bush Sr. beat Michael Dukakis in the county presidential election 1,789 to 803.
n For the first week of November in 1988 Rangely had a high temperature of 67 degrees and a low temperature of 24.
n Kara Wilder traded her body cast for a brace. Her parents, Casey and Kendra Wilder, thanked the staff at the Rangely Medical Center.
n Bob and Marcelyn Willis celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on Oct. 2, 1988 on the North Fork of the White River near Buford, Colo.
n RHS cross country runner Andrew Crookston advanced to the state cross country meet.
