The Meeker Cowboys opened their season with a game against the Central Warriors. Admission: Adults 75 cents, high school students 50 cents, elementary students 25 cents.
Sports wear for the first football games available at Avery’s Ladies Apparel: Thermo Jac coats and ankle boners, Graff washable woolen pants for mother, daughter and little sister.

Meeker RE-1 welcomed Sally Eatherton as the new first-grade teacher, business education instructor Steve Harmon and home economics teacher Noreen O’Connor.
Kelly Conrado of Meeker walked away with the reserve champion showman honors in the Polled Hereford junior show at the Colorado State Fair.
Babies born at Pioneers Hospital included Lee Clinton Searcy, Jessica Renee Young, Sammi Jo Deemer-Guy, Joseph Clint Rippy, Luke Ernest Dolan.
The Meeker Cowboys blitzed Palisade, 55-14, in the season opener.
Velma Soper and Sharon Clapper won the Meeker Ladies Two-Man Best Ball Tournament.

Enrollment in the Rangely schools totaled 725 students at the beginning of 1958. Wendall Yeager was president of the Quarterback Club.

Enrollment in the RE-4 school district at the beginning of the 1973 school year was 657 students.
A former Rangely Hospital administrator, Irvin Dean Anderson, pleaded guilty to charges of theft of an undetermined amount of money.
Orientation began for the 12th freshman class at Rangely College.
Showing at the Campus Theatre: The Poseidon Adventure.
On sale at Bestway: 1 lb. Fireside saltines, 27 cents; Campfire 16 oz. marshmallows, 23 cents; 2 lb. Can Folgers coffee, $2.14.

Republican Don Davis and Democrat Harry Peacock arm-wrestled at Septemberfest 1988. More than 1,000 people partook of the free barbecue at the fourth annual celebration.
The Rangely Panthers lost the opening game of the season to the Meeker Cowboys 26-15. Jean Marie Chaney and Eric Jay Peterson announced their upcoming wedding, Sept. 29, 1988 at the Christian Church.
Weather for Sept. 4, 1988: High, 84 degrees; low, 56 degrees.
