Rio Blanco County cross country runners Phalon Osborn, Savanna Nielsen, Raelynn Norman, Julia Eskelson, Patrick Scoggins and Landon Rowley represented Rio Blanco County at the Nike Cross Country Southwest Regional Championships in Casa Grande this past weekend. Competing in the small school division (1,000 or fewer students), the girls were led by Meeker’s Eskelson on the 5-kilometer course with a time of 21:56 and a 99th place finish, followed by Nielsen in 22:26 (111th), Osborn in 22:46 (118th) and Norman in 23:26 (128th). Rangely’s Scoggins ran the course in a time of 16:36, which earned him a 17th place finish while Rowley ran a 23:32 and finished in 168th. The meet, which put Meeker and Rangely runners on the same team, marked the end of the season.
RANGELY I The Rangely Panthers boys’ cross country team earned a third place finish at the 2A state championships this past weekend.
RANGELY I The varsity boys’ cross county team was more fortunate than the junior high runners at Aspen’s Chris Severy Memorial Hill Climb.
RANGELY I The Rangely High School cross-county team competed at the Basalt Longhorn Cross Country Invitation this past weekend along with 10 other schools from the Western Slope, and the harriers continue to show improvement.
