The following information is a weekly review of the calls for service reported to the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Communications Office. If you have any questions please call 878-9600. We will not regularly post any information as to the names or addresses on any incident. This last week the dispatch center received a total of 602 incoming and placed 139 outgoing phone calls, received 20 911 calls and 56 calls for Meeker PD. These calls resulted in 155 calls for service, 99 for the sheriff’s office, 48 for Meeker PD, six calls for Meeker Fire and Rescue, six for the Colorado State Patrol and three for other agencies. (Please note the department breakdown of calls reflects a different number because of incidents with multiple agency response). The sheriff’s office conducted 40 traffic stops issuing 10 citations and 30 warnings, while the Meeker PD had four stops all resulting in warnings. Agency assists totaled 21—15 for the sheriff’s office and three each for RPD and MPD. A hunter from Golden, Colo., was reported missing in the Sand Peak area Oct. 15. Rio Blanco County Search and Rescue was activated the next morning and the party was located at around 11 a.m. on Sunday and returned to camp. Routt County Center received a 911 call reference for a 60-year-old hunter who had fallen off his horse and was injured. He was located in the Stinsby Reservoir area inside of Rio Blanco County. Classic Airlife was dispatched and transported the party to St. Mary’s Hospital. Other calls for the sheriff’s deputies included three animal calls, four citizen assists, three motorist assists, one traffic accident, one traffic hazard and two warrant arrests, two domestic violence calls and 11 civil papers served. Meeker Police Department calls included two theft reports, five animal calls, five business checks, two domestic violence calls, one juvenile issue, one motorist assists, six citizen assists, five suspicious incidents and three VIN inspections. Assists to the Colorado State Patrol were five with no injury accidents reported. A 57-year-old male from Missouri was killed in an accident on County Road 115, Colorado State Patrol is investigating. No DUI arrests were made.
