Students on the eastern end of Rio Blanco County will officially start school September 4, but students have already been learning in the classrooms at the recently repaired Meeker Elementary School. “We have a couple of weeks left to get ready but summer school started last week,” Meeker superintendent Susan Goettel said of the use at the new elementary school, which was closed all last year for repairs. Goettel said four new teachers have been hired and a new high school principal. More information on teachers Maureen Gantt, Danielle Feola, Nathan Dick, Bruce Crowhorst and the new high school principal will be published once they report to school Aug. 24.
