RBC I Two men, ages 24 and 19, were arrested early Sunday morning for firing gunshots at a hunting camp near Sterry Lake in Rio Blanco County.
They were charged with reckless endangerment. The 24-year-old was also charged with prohibitive use of a weapon.
At about 3:15 a.m., officers from the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado Division of Wildlife responded to a report of gunshots coming from the camp.
The officers’ investigation found the 24-year-old from Burlington fired numerous gunshots from a .357 caliber and .454 caliber handgun, and the 19-year-old, from Carey, Ohio, fired a round from a 30.06 caliber rifle, while others in the camp were sleeping. Witnesses included a 26-year-old woman from Stratton, a 35-year-old man from Patriot, Ohio, and a 16-year-old boy from Carey, Ohio.
The 24-year-old man who was arrested was thought to be intoxicated at the time, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.
