Reinhard F. Ficken July 12, 1911 ~ 2011

Reinhard F. Ficken passed away in Grand Junction, Colo., at the age of 100.He was born July 12, 1911, in Orange, Calif., the child of German immigrants.He is survived by a sister, Martha Federspiel, 98, of Loveland, Colo.Reine worked as a gold miner in Golden, Idaho, in the 1930s. He met Lucile Thompson in Lewiston, Idaho, and they were married in 1936.They settled in Orange County, Calif., where he first worked at a service station and then as a commercial sprayer of citrus groves.He then became a citrus rancher first in Orange, Calif., and later in Exeter, Calif. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting for recreation.He and Lucile had two sons: Larry, now of Exeter, Calif., and Ronald of Rangely, Colo.Lucile passed away in Exeter in 1999 at the age of 84.He has four grandsons and 10 great-grandchildren.Reine moved to Rangely in 2005 and really loved the senior life offered there, especially the games and road trips. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Rangely. Burial will be in the Orange, Calif., Fairhaven Cemetery. Services were entrusted to the care of the Blackburn Rio Blanco Funeral Home.
