RBC I The Rio Blanco County Relay for Life will be held Aug. 21 and 22 at Colorado Northwestern Community College in Rangely. Meetings will be held at CNCC every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. until then.
Teams are gearing up for the event: signing up members, raising money, planning fundraising events. Holly Lepro’s team of ninth-graders leads the group of fundraisers, as usual. Leana Cox, chair of this year’s event, reports there are 16 teams signed up to walk at Relay. She can be reached at 675-3334 for more information.
A survivor’s dinner provided by Sodexo will begin at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 21. Anyone who is a survivor of cancer is invited to attend. Contact Dave Jordan at 675-8512 or e-mail [email protected].
Also on Friday night, at 9 p.m., “The Celebration of Hope” will be held to commemorate loved ones who have battled cancer. Luminaries, paper bags filled with sand and a candle, will be lit in honor or memory of those loved ones. Luminaries will be available for a minimum $5 donation at White River Market on Wednesday, Aug. 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Or, contact Jon Bader at 675-5008 to order luminaries.
