RBC — Combined, sales and use tax revenue for the towns of Meeker and Rangely and Rio Blanco County in July 2008 topped the $1 million mark for the second month in a row.
All together, the three county entities reported $1,080,740 in collected taxes for retail sales, motor vehicle use taxes and building materials for the month of July, a 32 percent increase from the $820,778 reported in 2007.
Once again, the county reported the lion’s share of the revenue increase, with a 41 percent increase. In July 2008, the county reported $591,317. In July 2008, the county reported $834,988 in collected sales and use taxes.
The town of Meeker reported a 15 percent increase $152,529 for 2008 compared to $133,129 in the same period in 2007.
The Town of Rangely’s numbers dropped in July, but only by 3 percent. Rangely reported $93,223 in 2008, compared to $96,332 in 2007.
Sales and use tax receipts include collected taxes for retail sales, motor vehicle use taxes and building materials use taxes. Rio Blanco County Sales and Use Tax Administrator Debbie Morlan said these numbers are unaudited and subject to change.
