Septemberfest features pair of car shows
RANGELY — There’s nothing like hot cars to heat up an event.
Once again, Rangely’s Septemberfest will include a car show. Actually, two car shows.
A staple of Septemberfest has been the car show in Elks Park.
“Every year it seems we get a few more cars,” said Jerry LeBleu, owner of Professional Touch auto repair and towing service in Rangely and one of the event’s organizers.
LeBleu expects 50 to 60 cars to participate in the show at Elks Park, which will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday. A parade of cars will take place at 9 a.m.
“We’ve had cars come all the way from Salt Lake City (Utah) and Denver,” LeBleu said. “The biggest draw is from Vernal (Utah).”
Another big draw has been from Green River, Wyo., LeBleu said.
“We had eight to ten last year,” he said. “They come every year.”
There is a $20 entry fee to participate in the car show. The participants themselves vote for the car show winner.
“It makes it as fair as you can,” LeBleu said.

And, for the second year in a row, there will be a car show and barbecue from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at 510 East Main. Free soda and hot dogs will be served.
A flyer promoting the event says, “Bring the whole family and enjoy some of the quickest race vehicles on the Western Slope.”
Car enthusiasts can test their reaction time on a full-size starting line tree, like what is used for drag racing.
“If you race it, bring it,” says the promotional flyer.
The event is sponsored by the Rangely Racers. For information, contact Ed Miller, 675-2580.
