RANGELY I The Rangely High girls’ basketball team beat Plateau Valley on Friday night and played a very solid Cedaredge team on Saturday, splitting games.
Coach Quinton Kent said about the Friday game, “I was proud of the way we rebounded. If there was one stat that would point to why we won, it would be that we out-rebounded them significantly.”
The numbers were big on the boards as Rangely out-rebounded the Cowboys 47-17, and 20 were on the offensive side,” he said. “his created second and third chances to score.”
The Panthers took a six point lead into the locker room and played well to maintain their lead and increase it in the final period, winning 40-31.
The team effort was led by Katye Allred on the boards and several scoring threats led by Katelyn Brown and Lindzey Thacker.
Saturday against Cedaredge, coach Kent said, “We played with them for a quarter. We were playing great defense in the first quarter, limiting them to one shot each possession, but we struggled against their defense.”
The Panthers play Paonia this weekend as their league play continues.
