RANGELY I The Rangely High School Panther wrestling team will open its mat season in Grand Junction at the Colorado Mesa University Duals with six wrestlers, as they wait for another to heal from a football injury.
The Panthers will be led by seniors Heath Peters and Josh Bolding while they wait for Ethan Allred to fully recover from a broken leg suffered during football season. Allred is the only wrestler to return with state experience.
Juniors Kiki Ruiz and Chance Shepard, along with sophomores Niche Deleon and Landon Rowley, will round out the team. No freshman joined the team this season.
“We have a lot of young talent and our seniors have lots of experience, and, hopefully, they wrestle to their ability,” head coach Jeff Heinle said.
Gary Bennett and Claude Rose will assist Heinle with the coaching duties this season.
“We are excited to see how our kids are going to compete,” coach Heinle said of the upcoming dual meet tournament and season.
