RHS harriers to finish season today in Rifle after Aspen meet

RANGELY | The Rangely Panther cross country team headed to Aspen this past weekend. It was to be the junior high’s last race of the season. The high school team was still battling sickness and injuries so only two of them ran.
With the junior high football season finished the cross country team had four extra male runners compete instead of their usual one runner.
The girls started the morning off with Norrah Patch and Brooke Filfred running. Patch was able to compete the 2.4 mile race with a time of 25.38 and then Filfred had a time of 37.50.
Next came the boys, Andrew Dorris was able to take eighth place overall with a time of 17:34. Timothy Scoggins came in with a time of 21:00, followed by Colton Noel with a time of 22:47. Anthony Dorris ran the course in 23:08, then Brent Cantrell with 30:38.
“I am looking forward to seeing what these young athletes can do when they get older as athletes. They showed a lot of heart and determination in the race,” said coach Beth Scoggins.
For the high school runners Rangely had Nick Miears run the 3.1 miles in 29:30 and Chloe Filfred with a 31:17.
“I am hoping to have my other runners healthy for next week in Rifle,” said coach Scoggins.
The team will run on Thursday in Rifle for their last regular season meet.
