RANGELY — The Rangely Panther high school wrestling team ended its 2007-08 season last Wednesday evening. About 75 people were present for a great Mexican dinner prepared by the parents of the team.
A short preview of the season was given by coach Jeff LeBleu along with a slide show and presentation of awards.
Receiving awards were: Devon Rose, all conference, state participation certificate and the most dedicated to the sport of wrestling plaque; Chad Petersen received a varsity letter; Ryan Petty, a state participation certificate and varsity letter; Blake Wanstedt, J.C. Chumacero, Brandon Gray and Zakk Wenzel all earned varsity letters; Stephan Boleng, all conference and varsity letter; Travis Witherell, state participation certificate, outstanding wrestler plaque, all conference honorable mention and a varsity letter; Logan Osborne received the most improved wrestler and a varsity letter; Cole Barlow was given the rookie of the year plaque and a varsity letter; Ryan Cramer, state participation certificate and varsity letter; Christian Holcomb, all state academic honorable mention, team captain, all conference honorable mention, state participation certificate, most dedicated to the sport of wrestling plaque and a varsity letter; Keane Raley, state participation certificate, all conference honorable mention, and varsity letter; Nick Halcomb,first team all state academic, state participation certificate, all conference honorable mention, team captain and the Panther Pride award; Levin Boulger, varsity letter; Mike Dillon, all conference honorable mention and varsity letter; managers Racheal Drake and Logan Justus were also given varsity letters. Largest weight gain since the end of the season went to Zakk Wenzel.
The team would like to thank our sponsors, the school district and the community for all the support given to the team through this outstanding season. A big special thanks to Chris Brasfield for the slide show and stat books and to Teri Holcomb, for organizing the awards meal, her help with the decorations and her help with the books all season long and to Cindy Halcomb for the decorations. Last but not least, coach LeBleu would like to thank all the parents for the awesome food.
