Team heads to regionals Oct. 18
RANGELY | The Rangely High School Cross Country team ran in Delta at Confluence Park this past weekend in the Pantherfest Invitational. The meet was made up of 25 high school teams, many of whom will be running the same course in just a couple of weeks at the regional meet. This meet had varsity races as well as JV races; the course was the same for both races.
Mary Scoggins and Chloe Filfred ran in the varsity race. Both had good races with new seasonal bests. Mary had a time of 21:17 while Filfred came in with a time of 23:45. Rylee Allred and Brooke Filfred decided to run JV for more experience racing with other young runners. Allred had a new personal best of 31:16 and Brooke had a time of 38:02.
For the boys, Colton Noel and Andrew Dorris both ran varsity. Noel had a time of 20:02 just a second off his personal best but it is a season best for him. Dorris had a great time of 20:42, which is a new personal best. Fisher Winder, Anthony Dorris and Colton Hart all ran JV, also for more experience of running with younger runners. Winder hit a new personal best of 23:26. Anothy Dorris, who is still healing from some injuries was able to get a new personal record of 25:14. Colton Hart ran his first cross country meet here was able to finish the race with a time of 35:40.
The Rangely harriers ran this week at the Rifle Invitational on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at the Rifle Creek Golf Course. This was their last regular season meet. Next up is the regional meet on Friday, Oct. 18 in Delta.
