RANGELY I The Panther track teams finally got good weather at the league meet in West Grand.
Starting off with the girls’ 100 hurdles, Kelsey Prosser bested her personal record (PR) with a time of 22.1. In the boys’ 110 hurdles, Logan Osborne ran a 17.34 for his PR and first place. In the girls’ 100 dash, Heather Turner ran a 15.9 and Myriah Moreno ran a 14.9. The boys’ 4×200 team consisted of Ethan Peacock, Logan Osborne, Colton Coombs and Cole Barlow. They took 10 seconds off their time with a 1:38.58 and took third overall.
In the girls’ 1,600 run, Audrey Hogan took second place with a time of 6:00.58. In the boys’ 1,600 run, William Scoggins ran a 5:17, taking seventh. In the boys’ 4×100 relay, Barlow, Osborne, Patrick Phelan and Ethan Peacock took fourth place with a time of 47.75. Barlow also ran a PR of 53.31 in the 400 dash, taking third. Justin Prosser also stepped up to get a PR in the 400, running a 59.59, taking eighth place.
Kelsey Prosser had her first 300 hurdles experience. She ran a 1:00.8 and took sixth overall. On the boys’ side, Osborne ran a 45.52, placing third. Running the 800, Hogan ran a 2:36.6 for a second-place finish. In the 200, PJ Hernandez ran her personal best of 34.49. Victoria Phelan ran a 30 flat placing sixth. For the boys’ 3,200, William Scoggins ran an 11:49.4, taking third place overall.
The final running event was the 4×400 relay. This is the first time the boys ran this event this season. Runners included: Mark Perzinski, Osborne, Coombs and Peacock. They ran a 3:53.8 and took fourth overall.
In the high jump, Perzinski jumped a 5-6, placing seventh and Marie Morton jumped a 4-4 and placed eighth. In the girls’ long jump, Phelan took fourth with a distance of 14-7.5. She then took third place in the triple jump, jumping 30-11.5.
The throwers had a good day in West Grand. Chase Kinney was very close to his personal best in shot throwing 33-7, only two inches from his PR. Colton Coombs threw 31-3, which is his personal best this year. Morton threw 31-0, only inches from her PR. Holly Lepro threw 31-8, only 1 inch from her PR. Hernandez threw 58-8 in the discus, close to her personal best. Lepro threw 84-1.75 in the discus. Morton threw 89-7.5 in the discus.
We are looking forward to regionals to try to get some kids qualified for state.
