RANGELY I The last two weekends for the RHS track team have been jam-packed with four track meets and many highlights.
At the Coal Ridge Invitational Tessa Slagle ran two events for the first time this year, the 800-meter and the 1600-meter races, and earned personal records in both. Aimee Hogan also earned a PR in the 1600 with a time of 6:04.2.
At the Demon Invitational there were many personal records earned. Among them were Holly Lepro in the shot and disc, Andrew Morton in the disc and long jump, Connor Phelan in the 100-meter dash, Marshal Way in the 300-meter dash, Ethan Allred in the long jump, and the first 4×400 relay team set a good time of 3:53.9. Runners on this team were Ethan Allred, Colton Coombs, William Scoggins and Connor Phelan.
At Fruita’s Phil Wertman Invitational Holly Lepro earned another PR in the shot, and our new 4×200 relay team took nine seconds off their best time and are in the running for state. Runners in this relay include Connor Phelan, Dylan McCrorey, DJ Jamerson and Colton Coombs. Aimee Hogan also earned a PR in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:38.7.
Finally, at the Rifle Invitational Rangely took home two gold medals. One was earned by junior William Scoggins in the mile which was also a personal record for him with a time of 4:40.24 and he broke a school record set by Michael Hinaman that had been standing since 2006. The other gold medal came from Holly Lepro in the shot put with a distance of 33-11.75.
This weekend the Panthers will host their first meet in several years at home in Rangely.
