• W. H. Clark made a preliminary survey Tuesday for a ditch for W. L. Veatch. The ditch will be taken out this side of Miller Creek and it is expected that it will be continued onto the Mesa. Mr. Veatch proposes to start the ditch and other interested parties can continue it after complying with the laws governing such matters.
• W. C. Ledbetter, accompanied by his brother, W. W. Ledbetter, returned to Meeker on Friday evening’s stage after a lengthy visit to his folks in Kansas. “Jack” says this country is good enough for him.
• Sen. Eddy passed through Meeker on Thursday on his way to Denver. Mr. Eddy says the official count will give him a majority of eight over Crawford.

• Clark and Johnnie Wix and Jack Pollard drove to Salt Lake City for the Thanksgiving holidays, returning home Sunday. They were accompanied by Miss Rose Ella Nicholl, a niece of Mrs. Marie Wix, who will visit here for a short time. The Wix boys drove back a new car for their mother.
• Mr. and Mrs. John Campbell and Mr. and Mrs. Lon Campbell were up from Grand Junction last weekend visiting relatives and enjoying Thanksgiving here. They stayed over Friday, returning to their Grand Junction home on Saturday.
• Word was received in Meeker on Tuesday that Mrs. R. O. Reynolds had suffered a stroke at their home in Grand Junction and was seriously ill. Mr. and Mrs. Robert White went down Tuesday afternoon to see her.

• Mr. Wayne Joslin and Tisha drove to Grand Junction on Thursday to have Thanksgiving dinner with Peggy’s grandmother, Mrs. Toots McVern, and her aunts, and uncle. They returned home early in the afternoon after enjoying the family dinner.
• Frank and Carolyn Cooley drove to Pagosa Springs, Colo., for the Thanksgiving weekend to visit their son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Terri. All four Cooleys enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner in Durango with the Lance Frisby family.
• Iola Hicken returned from a trip to Yampa, where she enjoyed a visit with her son, Keith, and his wife, Carolyene. A lovely Thanksgiving dinner was served to 11s. Keith brought his mother home Friday.

• Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Jones, long-time residents of Rangely, recently celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at the home of their daughter. Mrs. A. B. Smith, at Buckeye, Ariz.
• Michael P. Holden, MUSN, USN, a former Rangely student, graduated from the U.S. Naval School of Music in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 8, 1963.
• Otis, Julesburg and Cheyenne Mountain won their first state titles when four championship playoffs were completed Saturday in the 43rd annual Colorado high school football tournaments.

• Mrs. Velma Renfro of St. George, Utah, visited with her sister, Mrs. Claude Renfro, for three or four days last week.
• Paul O’Brein of Las Angeles, Calif., is a guest in the Lloyd Hutchins home. He arrived on Wednesday.
• Mr. and Mrs. Austin Steele and family of Vernal spent Thanksgiving with his parents, the Don Steeles.
• Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Smith of Vernal spent Thanksgiving day with the Harold Wardells. Mrs. Wardell is their daughter. The day was also a celebration for Mr. Smith’s 79th birthday. Other guests were the Phillip Smiths and the Jack Browns.

• Chief David Chaney, a Rangely volunteer fireman, presented Mrs. Larita Eddy a plaque on behalf of the Rangely Fire Department for her many years of dedicated service as the fire dispatcher. The plaque was presented to Mrs. Eddy on Nov. 21, 1983. The new dispatcher is in the Central Dispatch of the City of Rangely.
• A law designed to protect children under 4 years of age from being injured or killed in auto crashes goes into effect Jan. 1, 1984. This was the first law regarding child restraints in vehicles for all children under four.
• 4-H members from counties throughout the United States are now making plans to attend one of the Cooperative Extension Service’s most exciting and successful programs offered — Citizenship Washington Focus.
