Jan. 24, 1935
• Bond Norman reports 14 head of cattle missing from his pasture along government road 5 miles west of town.
• The worst storm of the winter struck this part of the country during the last week. Here in town the thermometers registered somewhere in the neighborhood of 24 below zero.
• Old Timers’ Dance, Friday, Feb. 1, 1935.

Jan. 28, 1960
• James L. Tagert, real pioneer of county, passed away Tuesday at Pioneers Hospital.
• Sheriff Harp and Marshall Cron are attending FBI fingerprinting school.
• Newborns: Arthur and Dorothy Bridges, baby boy, Jan. 20 (first baby of the new year); Edward and Rose Kincher, baby girl, Jan. 26.
• Cowboy cage crew split two thrillers over past weekend. Nip Rangely in overtime contest but lose to Carbondale here Saturday night.

• RBC Commissioners were considering putting money into a shale oil demo plant at the C-b site.
• Pioneers Hospital honored Mary Purkey, Wanda Huffman and Ada Osborne at a retirement party.
• Catch a kid being good awards presented to David Hoke, Ryan Hanson, Kelli Garcia, Chad Woodruff, Garrett Hayes, Jason Musser, Rosie Faulhaber, Lindsey Harp.

The Rangely Times — 50 years ago Jan. 28, 1960
• E.W. Long of Weatherford, Texas was sworn in as Rangely’s marshal. He replaces Joe Sommerville who resigned after 13 months.
• Orlan Fetterhoff was elected president of the Rangely Chamber of Commerce at the last meeting of the group Jan. 21.
• 1960 Ford Economy Twins: Ford Falcon and Ford Fairlane at Comstock Motors.
• Lost and Found Notice: Left in Smitty’s Barber Shop Friday, Jan. 22, one pair of colored glasses.

The Rangely Times — 30 years ago Jan. 31, 1980
• Engagements announced: Loretta Melchor to Jerry Patton; Dawn Pennell to Lee Medley; Rhonda Tucker to Randy Stewart.
• Catbird Fabrics, 637 E. Main. Sale begins today.
• The Theta Zeta #2781 donated to the hospital three RCA portable televisions.
• Dance at the Ace Hi, music by High Country, $2 per person.

• In a special award of appreciation, the RE-4 Board of Education awarded Dorothy Menge the desk which she used for much of her 31 years with the school district.
• Rangely Middle School Drama Club presents “Mystery of the Suffocated Seventh Grader.”
