March 10, 1910
• Although the workmen are not quite through yet, the Baer family moved into their elegant new home this week — a home that would do credit to Capitol Hill, Denver, in general appearance and all details.

March 14, 1935
• After being closed for several weeks, the main highway between New Castle and South Canyon is again open to travel. This piece of road about 10 miles west of Glenwood has been giving much trouble due to rock slides.
• Another FERA project has been suggested during the past week. It is proposed to construct a swimming pool on land owned by Mr. Robert Russell, three miles east of Meeker.

March 10, 1960
• Wayne Willis and Forrest Nelson, of Meeker High School, placed highest among the projects entered at the Western Slope Science Fair. The winning project by Wayne Willis was a model electronic computer.
• Elliot Roosevelt heading company which plans to build a swank $5 million private club at Buford.
• Congratulations Meeker Cowboys for winning the league basketball championship.

• In their first trip to state in 13 years, the Cowgirls kicked off the state basketball tournament against Calhan.
• By sinking 17 of 25 free throws, 10-year-old Emily McCoy won the girls state hoop-shoot contest in Denver.

March 10, 1960
• Election of six trustees to the town board and a mayor will be held Tuesday, April 2.
• “These days a child who knows the value of a dollar must be mighty discouraged.”
• Revised plan of new $400,000-plus junior high school to be built this year. Bids will be called for on the single story building which will house 250-300 students.

• A large field of candidates has turned out for the April 1 municipal election in Rangely.
• “The whole housing industry is grinding to a halt,” exclaimed Bill Mark at last Monday night’s town planning commission meeting.
• The Census Bureau still needs census enumerators for Rio Blanco County.
