March 22, 1890
• The approaching election is becoming a live issue. So far candidates are not numerous — for mayor, L.J. Bemer and Frank Barton. For trustees: W.H. Clark, J.L. McHatton, H.C. Gilmore, C.A. Booth, John A. Watson, Lou Craig and Phil Ledbetter have been mentioned.
• The walls of St. James Church will be completed this evening and work on the tower will be commenced on Monday.
• Harry Neblock has contracts for four new houses.

March 24, 1960
• Lions Club will bring “Oil Shale City” model to Meeker April 5. Public invited to view model and hear talk on oil shale.
• Dr. Willis Scott, operator of the Rio Theatre in Meeker, has booked one of the best pictures produced last year and will bring it to Meeker for a 5-day run. “Solomon and Sheba,” stars Yul Brynner and Gina Lollobrigida.
• Curtain Call will present “Will You Walk” this week at the high school auditorium. In order of appearance: Sue Charles, Bud Conrado, Dale Frisby, Jean Scott, Joe Spence Jr., Jack Frost, Sally Wilson, Dean Parr, Judy Hester, Ed Duffy, Charles Jackquette, Weaver Barrett, Paul Grumley, Walt Winkler, Bob White, Joan Zeller, Chuck Wilson, Carl Zeller, W.E. Scott.

• Suzan Dole skied in the 1990 Rocky Mountain/Central Division USSA Jr. Olympic Championships in Vail, Colo. Her results put her in third place overall in World Cup points for 1990.
• Ben Gianinetti and Bob Copeland were busily redecorating patient rooms at Pioneers Hospital last week. In addition to new ceilings, the remodeling effort also includes new wallpaper and linoleum.
• Trina Stout, 14, is not enjoying spring vacation as she’d like to. While she and her brother Shane were riding their four-wheelers, Trina tried to jump a ditch and in doing so her machine flipped with her. She has a fractured left arm, and two badly sprained ankles.

• Rangely’s new laundromat will open the first of April or soon after.
• The newest business in Rangely, Neilson Jewelry will have its grand opening in the Rig Theater building in the former location of the Huber Jewelry store.
• Tom (Leon) Rabourn joined the air force.
• High scorers of the RHS math contest: Mark Danielson, William Sandras, Wesley Yeager and Karen White.

• Fred and Jerry McAllister announced the birth of their daughter, Erin Allyn. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mansur announced the birth of their son, Joshua Paul.
• Candidates for Rangely Town Council: James F. Cox, Vicki Jo Russell, William Leigh Jr., William H. Curlott, James O. Sinclair, Jean S. Kump, Michael Moran, Charles C. Reed, W. Grant Peel, Denise Smuts, Richard L. Brannan.

• Barry Barboza received the Western Fuels-Utah, Inc. Employee Suggestion Award for his idea on reducing the time required to refill the giant jug washbox after the maintenance work has been completed.
• Charles Stucker, son of Michael J. Stucker of Rangely, joined the Colorado National Guard.
• Rangely High School students with perfect attendance through the third quarter: Cori Ducey, Jamie Kurrasch, Tina Hames, Baylen Berrett, Brian Conkle and Roger Rowley.
