The Meeker Herald — 125 years ago
• In the selection of Joe Ralston as game warden, the county commissioners secured the service of a good man and one that will enforce the game laws to the letter.
• The addition built on to the post office building by Mr. Watson adds another attractive feature to Main Street.
• Louis Fowler is the chief hostler at the Meeker stables. Please don’t spit on the floor when you go to Lou’s place.
• We omitted to notice the arrival of a new organ for the Sunday School in our last issue.

The Meeker Herald — 50 years ago
• A flying club has been formed in Meeker. The name of the club is “Wild Blue Wonders.”
• Keith LaSueur is the new president of the Meeker Chamber of Commerce.
• The Greeley Gas company announced that they plan to bring gas to Meeker this year.
• For the most part of January the sub-zero temperatures have kept the ice skating rink behind the junior high school in good shape.
• The Meeker Fire Department was called out twice on Sunday of this week. There was heavy damage to the Bud Conrado home on west Main St. The second alarm was for a fire in a pile of baled straw at the Clark Wix ranch 3 miles east of Meeker.
• Don’s Market is bringing S&H Green Stamps to Meeker.

• The town is currently considering a project to repair sidewalks, curb and gutters in the downtown area.
• Library director Robbie Nickel demonstrated the use of the new library card machine which make the checkout procedure faster and more private for patrons.
• The days of a “slap on the wrist” for providing minors with alcohol are apparently over, after a Meeker local was sentenced to 30 days in jail in a case related to a dance held at the multipurpose building during the New Year’s break.
• Kristine May of Green River, Wyo., and Web Frantz Jr., of Meeker, were untied in marriage Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Meeker Christian Church.
• Meeker High School Cowboy basketball “ripped” Glenwood for the first time in six years, 73-55.

Rangely Times — 45 years ago
• The Rangely wrestling team disposed of Craig 32-19 in a league contest, then were beaten by Grand Junction Central Saturday 33-17. The Panthers received pinning performances from Jim Fullenwider and Mike Enterline.
• Marriage licenses: Archie Best, 70, Meeker, and Fern Gall, 68, Dinosaur. Warren C. Blanchard, 19, and Linda Carol Messenger, 18, both of Rangely. Lloyd George, 19, to Susan Mary Ainge, 16, Rangely. France C. Sizemore, 19, Rangely, and Lois Kincher, 17, Meeker.

Rangely Times — 35 years ago
• Panther wrestlers dumped Roaring Fork, succumbed to the Sailors.
• Jerome Hojnacki, a sophomore at CNCC, was picked as the first round draft choice of the Texas Rangers professional baseball team.
• Mr. and Mrs. Don Chism are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Tavanne Rae, to Bob Burch.
• Last Saturday night the pound was broken into and all dogs were turned loose. This was repaired on Monday, and most of the dogs were recaptured.

Rangely Times — 25 years ago
• Sixth-graders Nick Wardell, Josh Taylor and Debbie Crookston finished their Binary Tic Tac Toe tournament last week.
• Rangely High School seniors Hank Allred, Sarah Zwirn and Mike Cushman were recently chosen by the Rocky Mountain News poll to the all-state football and volleyball teams, respectively.
• For the week of Jan. 22-28 high temperature 41, low -3.
