– Until disposed of we will offer 17¢ 20¢, 25¢, 30¢ and 35¢ values In organdies, batistes, lawns and dimities at 10¢ and 12¢ cents per pair. The famous Russell gloves for $1.50 per pair.
– County surveyor Dan Moog is kept on the jump these days. Mr. Moog surveyed reservoir sites on Flag Creek for J.F. Wilson and S. Wright. A fine reservoir site was located on the head of West Miller Creek for B.C. Howy and sons.
– On Monday Forest Ranger Robert Potter arrested one J. Rickard, supposed to hail from Grand River, for having a deer carcass in his possession. Tuesday, on complaint of acting Forest Supervisor Carroll, Rickard was fined $40 and costs in Justice Sanderson’s court.
– The walls of the new high school building are now beginning to loom up.
– Considerable excitement was aroused Wednesday when it was reported that Carrie Rescorla, the 14-year-old daughter of John Rescorla of Coal Creek, was missing from her home since last Saturday. Neighbors turned out generally and the missing girl was found at the Carlisle place on Little Beaver Thursday evening, none the worse for wear from the effects of her wanderings

– William L. Murphy was found dead in his pickup truck by 14-year-old George Rienau.
– The oldest alibi in hunting: “I thought it was a deer,” failed to save three Denver hunters from paying for a cow they shot as well as a fine for careless hunting.n Meeker schools will open fall term on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
– While most of the last week has been dry, we did have one of the best rains of the summer last week. There have been heavy rains in some parts of the valley and two cloudbursts in the upper White. The high for the week was 89 and the low was 40.

– Kathryn and William Barnard are the state winners of the 1986 National Soil and Water Conservation Awards Program.
– Rangely’s new high school to open on time for the new school year.
– The library held a summer reading award party for Don Crowther, Sarah Kraft, Brandi Stewart, Keli Stewart, Mindy Estes, Michele Orpi, Jordan Kraft, Beth Byers, Misti Macziewski,Amy Striegel and Benjamin Brubaker.

Rangely Times — 45 years ago
– Tuesday night at 9:30 all lights will be turned off and then a few moments later, Mayor B.F. Yaeger will flip a switch and the 201 new mercury vapor lights will light up the city as never before.
– Several hundred thousand dollars damage resulted from an explosion and fire at the McLaughlin 52-X well five miles west of Rangely Monday morning. No one was injured in the blaze.
– A back-to-school matinee at the Campus Theatre has been announced. The feature will be 20th Century Fox’s “Misty,” an excellent color movie, plus several short features.

Rangely Times — 35 years ago
– A model of the new recreation center is on display at the Rangely Library.
– RBC’s 1976 unofficial assessed valuation is up $30.1 million from the previous year according to county assessor Harley Bloomfield.
– Mr. and Mrs. Ben Steele announce the engagement of their daughter Janet Lee to Bryan Makay of Vernal, Utah. Janet is a graduate of RHS.
– Cindy Fuller and Greg Booker were married June 5 at the Christian Church.
– Mr. and Mrs. L.V. Flaniken of the Chevron Oil Production Camp were presented the award sign from the Rangely Garden Club last Thursday.
– School lunch prices up: Elementary (K-5) $0.40, middle school (6-8) $0.45, high school (9-12) $2.50 and adults $3.25.
