The Modern Woodmen masquerade ball on Feb. 22 promises to be a humdinger.
The early part of the week was cold — last Friday night being about zero; Saturday night, 6 below; Sunday, the same; Monday, zero. Since then the mercury has been well up with sunshiny days and thawing conditions.

Ben Roybal, 73-year-old sheepherder accused of killing Glen Brady at the Brady sheep camp last fall, was returned to the county jail last Thursday, after being found to be insane by the Pueblo State Hospital.
President Kennedy’s budget submitted to Congress last week included $120,000 for continuing feasibility studies of the Yellow Jacket Reclamation project. The project would take water from the upper White River and carry it to various sections of Rio Blanco and Moffat counties through a series of canals.

Complete with a real, live “barrel man,” Meekerites enjoyed their own brand of Broncomania last Friday noon at the golf course restaurant. Out of almost 250 entries, Mary Tucker’s name was drawn as the lucky winner of the beautiful Bronco golf bag.
Quarterly reports by the University of Colorado’s business research division continue to show deteriorating economic bases in Meeker, Rangely and Rio Blanco County.
This year’s White River Soil Conservation District poster winners were Wade Shults, Marc Etchart and first-place winner Cindy Johnson.

The first baby born at Rangely Hospital in 1967 was Alisa Kay Usery on Jan. 17. She weighed 7 pounds on her first trip to the scales. Rangely residents for 21 years, Mrs. Usery is a former hospital employee and her husband works for Chevron. Alisa Kay is the Usery’s sixth child.
At the Campus Theatre this week: Don Knotts in “The Ghost and Mr. Chicken,” Cecil B. DeMille’s “The Ten Commandments” in Technicolor, uncut and intact!

The first baby born in Rangely in 1977 was Robert Clarence Henderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Henderson of Rangely. She is the former Sandy Wells. The 6 pound, 4 ounce baby boy arrived at Rangely Hospital at 5:55 a.m. on Jan. 7.
Graham Liles, chief of maintenance at Dinosaur National Monument since 1965, ended more than 37 years of federal employment on Dec. 31, 1976.
Rangely’s two fine wrestlers, Rod Cook and Jody Lee, represented the Panthers well against the Japanese All-Stars recently at Rifle. The RHS entries took two wins and a Craig wrestler was the only other league winner against the Japanese.

Sixteen Rangely citizens were present at the meeting of the county commissioners in Rangely on the 26th concerning the proposed brine water disposal facility of Jeff Peacock.
Stormie Osborne and Jon Peterson were united in marriage Jan. 16, 1987.
