n Position wanted: Young man of 17, in good health, with good education would like to secure some pleasant outdoor work during the summer. No pay asked. Have been attending school and would like a change for a few months.
n Get a reserved seat for the high school dramatic entertainment Friday, April 26. The price of admission will be 35 cents; reserved seats 50 cents.
n As a result of the present snow storm seeding operations will be set back several days.
n Borrowed: Will the man who borrowed The Herald shovel please bring it back. You can get it again after we get the garden in.
n About one of the worst snow and wind storms of the season set in last night. About eight inches of snow fell, and still snowing.
n Good four room house and three lots; corner Park Avenue and Fourth Street; southern frontage.

n If you are interested in trying to get a golf course in Meeker, contact Mr. Floyd Lischke at the bank, then if enough show an interest, an effort will be made to form a club.
n A huge campground and recreation development are planned at Trappers Lake, according to the White River Forest Service. The project will include leasing land to a private party to build cabins or a hotel on the lake.
n A real estate and business deal was closed this week whereby Mr. and Mrs. Guy Russell have sold their Russell Drug Store to Mr. Herbert Blagg of Denver. The new owner is changing the name from Russell Drug to the Meeker Drug Store.
n Dear Editor: Why must Meeker remain small, unsightly and disorganized? Obviously the answer is that the gentry do not care — I urge you, relinquish your hold on the status quo and proceed ahead, promote Meeker and not personal whims. ~ Gus R. Halandras

n Last weekend’s strong winds finally blew in the expected storm which dropped eight inches of wet snow on Meeker Sunday night. The snow contained .40 of an inch of much-needed moisture but quickly melted with temperatures rebounding up into the mid-60s by Wednesday.
n Spring has traditionally been a busy time for Meeker’s volunteer fire department and this year is no exception as the department responded to three fires this past week, one on the Mesa, one on Piceance Creek, and one on Milk Creek. Fire Chief Mike Washburn urged rural residents not to burn ditches during high winds.
n Meeker’s postmaster, Frank Zanin, who’s been here for about five years, recently moved to Craig where he will be the new postmaster for that community. While business at the post office will continue as usual here, it looks like it could be three to five months before a new postmaster is hired to replace Zanin.

Rangely Times — 50 years ago
n Five students passed an important milestone on their way toward a private pilot’s license last week when they took the airplane up by themselves at Rangely airport: Mike Eller, Bob Lanam, Wayne Blakley and Kenneth Bailey, dean of administration at the college.
n A double ring ceremony April 8 united in marriage Miss Joyce Blevins and Jim McPhail at the First Southern Baptist Church.
n In the ‘senior spotlight’: Jim Allred, Mike Pilcher and Craig Hanzon.
n The first meeting of the Rangely Days Rodeo parade planning board was held.

Rangely Times — 30 years ago
n Patrolman Henry Hames arrived this week to represent the Rangely area. His wife Betty and three daughters will be residents of Rangely. The Hames are from Aurora, Colo.
n Vince Wilczek and John Lollar were crowned as district champions last Saturday evening in Craig at the League Jr. High Wrestling Tournament.

Rangely Times — 20 years ago
n Marine Lance Corporal Connie Denney, daughter of Jack and Elizabeth Denney of Rangely, recently reported for duty with 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point, N.C.
n The Rangely Panthers won the first place in the Panther Invitational track meet April 18. The boys’ team includes Chuck Allred, James Love, Scott Linsay, Steve Geyler, Jim Schuckers, Andrew Crookston, Bill Sharpnack, Sean Higgins, Russ McDaniel, Steve Elliot, Fred Maybury, Fernando Flores, Jack Denney, Andy Harward, Jamie Lambert and Shawn Keppers.
n Ten members were inducted in the National Honor Society at Rangely High School: Phoebe Day, Jackie Wysocki, Jarrod McDonald, Kelli Collins, Monica Correll, Jerry Dalrymple, Michelle Palmer, Jeff Edelen, John Neiberger and Rusty Conrad.
n Tom Galloway and Kim Hamilton were chosen as prom royalty at RHS.
