There’s nothing wrong with the water Meekerites are drinking, but the Meeker Sanitation Department will have to take action in the near future to dispose of their sludge which has high concentrations of copper.
Both men are 33 years old and have similar sounding last names, but that’s about the only thing State Representative Scott McInnis and his Democratic challenger, Greg McKennis, have in common.
According to figures from the Colorado Public Expenditures Council, Rio Blanco County has suffered the second worst per capital income loss on the state of Colorado. Only neighboring Moffat County showed a larger drop.

Rangely Times — 45 years ago
High temperature on Oct. 1: 73 degrees. Low temperature: 28 degrees.
Work was completed Friday on resurfacing Main Street with a 2-inch mat of blacktop and county crews were working on side streets this week.
The sophomore class received the “spirit stick” in last Friday’s pep assembly for the loudest cheering in a contest of cheers between the classes.

“Dear Editor: What do you think of a coach who has 40 (more or less) football players, but uses only the same 12 or 13 for every game?”
The Rangely High School Panthers made homecoming week successful as they blasted the Steamboat Springs Sailors by a score of 36-12.
Melanie Pratt, CNCC instructor and daughter of Bill Pratt, instructor in aircraft mechanics at CNCC, performed successful skydives last week over the Rangely airport. She has been jumping from airplanes for about two years.

The 1986 Rangely High School homecoming parade is set for Oct. 17. The theme this year is “Taking Care of Business.”
“This week a friend of mine sent me the Rangely Times and I couldn’t believe it, 281 skunks. That is a staggering amount.”
