RBC I Gov. Bill Ritter has named the former district attorney in the 9th Judicial District to the same position in the 22nd Judicial District in southwest Colorado.
Mark “Mac” Myers of Mancos will replace Jim Wilson, who died in a motorcycle accident in May. Myers narrowly lost to Wilson in the 2008 election in the 22nd district, which includes Montezuma and Dolores counties, and will stand for election in November.
Myers served two terms, from 1997 to 2005, in the 9th district, which includes Garfield, Rio Blanco and Pitkin counties. He was a deputy DA in the 22nd from 2005 to 2007.
“Mac Myers is a passionate prosecutor and a dedicated law officer,” Ritter said in announcing the appointment. “I am grateful he has agreed to once again serve the people of Colorado and the people of the 22nd Judicial District. I know he will do so with distinction.”
