RJHS girls end season 9-0

RBC I The middle school girls finished their season last weekend with a tournament in Craig. Rangely’s seventh-graders came out on top with a perfect 9-0 season. They not only won all of their games and were crowned tournament champions, but also scored an average of 35 points per game throughout their season.
Coach Jessica Fortunato said, “These girls are very talented individuals but when you put them all together, they are unstoppable.” The team’s philosophy this season was “all out” and to see them play, it is certainly working for them. They walk on the court ready to play and don’t let up until the final buzzer. Rangely basketball has a very bright future. The winning roster included Kassidee and Katlynn Brown, Sarah Connor, Claire Denny, Halie Elam, Vanessa Hamilton, Alexis Lamoreaux, Skyler Thacker, and KK Wyman-Fortunato.
The eighth-grade Panthers also completed a good year of basketball, finishing second in the tournament. The team avenged an earlier loss to Meeker in the first round of the tournament, advancing them to the finals for the second year in a row.
The Meeker girls’ teams found themselves in the consolation game after falling in the first round of the tournament. The eighth grade girls came up short by one point in the game but were successful during the season and learned a great deal about team work and confidence along the way. This talented bunch of girls will be a team to reckon with in the future. The seventh grade girls from Meeker also saw a great deal of improvement in their season, closing the gap against opponents and winning some close ones. The growth the team made in just eight weeks is very encouraging for next year.
