MEEKER I James Roberts has come home.
Roberts, a Meeker High School graduate, recently joined the Bureau of Land Management’s White River Field Office as an assistant field manager.
Roberts, who arrived in mid-June, oversees the biological and physical resource programs for the 2.67-million-acre White River Field Office, based in Meeker.
Roberts earned bachelor of science degrees in both wildlife biology and fisheries biology from Colorado State University in 1999. He started his BLM career seven years ago in Kemmerer, Wyo., where he worked as a natural resource specialist in the fluid minerals program. Roberts has also worked for the National Marine Fisheries Service.
“It’s great to be back in Meeker helping manage the same public lands that first generated my interest in natural resources,” Roberts said.
Before graduating from Meeker High School in 1994, Roberts worked as a volunteer for the White River Field Office and Wildland Fire Programs.
“We are very pleased James has joined our team in Meeker,” said BLM White River Field Manager Kent Walter. “Not only does he bring a diversity of natural resource experience, he also brings a broad national and community based perspective, which will benefit the management of the area.”
