MEEKER I Once again, the Range Call Ranch Rodeo showcased the outstanding ranching skills of local ranchers. This year’s winning team included locals Lenny Klinglesmith, Travis Anderson, Lance Pakuer, and former Meeker resident Ryan Vroman. A total of 10 teams took part in the four-man competition, then dropped one member and added two new members for the family part of the competition.
The winning four-man team was also the overall winner with the addition of Lane Anderson and Lori Ann Klinglesmith. Roping calves in the branding segment, Anderson and Klinglesmith were crowd favorites.
The second place four-man team, comprised of Lenny Klinglesmith, Travis Anderson, Coley Turner and Buddy Pakuer, added Kenzie Turner and Lila Klinglesmith to finish second in the overall competition as well. The Morapos Creek team finished third in the four-person competition.
The family competition – consisting of two events, branding and penning — was won by the LK ranch team of Lowell, Lenny, Jackie, Lori Ann and Lila Klinglesmith. The Allred team from Rangely, with Hank, Wade, Katie, Colt and Troy Allred, earned second place. The event was the conclusion to the weekend’s Range Call Celebration. The rodeo always draws a great crowd to watch a variety of competitors compete in an exciting five minutes of action. Four-man teams raced to milk a cow, tie down a steer, brand a calf and pen a yearling. The kids then have the opportunity to show off their skills as they get involved on the teams. This year there was plenty of excitement and competition.
Bruce Clatterbaugh and Jackie Klinglesmith did an outstanding job of organizing and judging the event. Livestock used for the event came primarily from the Clatterbaugh Ranch. Congratulations to the winners and thanks to the volunteers who produced an outstanding community event again.
