Rough Riders horse club hosting Gymkhana July 15

RANGELY — The Rangely Rough Riders Horse Club has been very busy this year.
In June, Justyne Dembowski, Briana Bromley, Shelby Neiberger and our leader, Amy Ward, attended a riding clinic hosted by Debbie Bibb, “Building the Horse of a Lifetime.” Victoria Phalen, who is not a member of our club, also attended the week-long clinic. We worked in the round pen with our horses, learned more about lead changes, and making small and large steps as well as many other things. We even rode our horses and played with a giant beach ball that was as tall as a horse. We learned a tremendous amount of skills and enjoyed it very much even though it was very, very hot.
Our club will be putting on a Gymkhana July 15 at Columbine Park at 7 p.m. Sign up is at 6 p.m. Come join all the fun. Entry fees will be $5 per horse for the night. We have lots of fun and exciting activities planned. Prizes will be awarded. Helmets are required for all kids under 18 years of age, as a 4-H rule. A few helmets will be available to use if you do not have one.
We have participated in community service projects throughout the summer and helped sell fireworks in the 4-H firework stand.
As a fund raiser, the club will also be selling Little Caesars pizzas. If you are interested in purchasing anything, please call Amy Ward at 675-5566 or Sylvia Dembowski at 675-8616 before July 19 and a member will contact you.
The club has had a busy year and have had a lot of fun. Please come watch us at the Rio Blanco County Fair horse show on July 26 in Meeker.
