This includes 8,149 acres of federal land and 521 acres of split-estate land with federal minerals. This includes four split-estate parcels with federal minerals totaling 2,783 acres in Grand County. In addition, two parcels totaling 160 acres are proposed in Jackson County, with about 120 acres being BLM lands with federal minerals and about 40 acres being split estate with federal minerals. Comments on this EA need to be received by March 24.Under new policy for oil and gas leasing, individual field offices within BLM are conducting environmental analyses on lands proposed within their jurisdiction for specific oil and gas lease sales. This allows the public an additional chance to review specific potential leasing decisions before the lease sale occurs.Earlier this month BLM released an EA from the Uncompahgre Field Office in Montrose analyzing 40 acres of split estate in Gunnison County and 802 acres of BLM lands in Montrose County that are proposed for the August lease sale. This EA is available for public comment at the Montrose Public Lands Center or online at http://www.blm.gov/co/st/en/BLM_Information/nepa/ufo.html. Comments on this EA need to be received by March 11, 2011.
