RBC I The Foundation for Colorado Community Colleges has announced a new and innovative “Last Mile Scholarship” program. Last Mile Scholarships are intended for students who are close to completing an Associate Degree but need financial assistance to overcome a financial obstacle or hardship to graduate. The scholarships are available to students at any of the Colorado Community College System’s (CCCS) 13 colleges.
“Last Mile Scholarships will provide support for students who are near completion,” said Dr. Nancy McCallin, President of CCCS. “We know that students who earn a degree will see their wages increase. We strive to keep CCCS colleges affordable and providing Last Mile Scholarships will further help Coloradans on their path to economic prosperity.”
Foundation Board Chair, Doug Schneider, Vice President for Marketing at Credit Union of Colorado, added, “The Foundation is pleased to be able to support scholarships for students that otherwise might not complete their degree. These scholarships will enable students to focus on their studies, take additional classes, and most importantly graduate.”
Students receiving the Last Mile Scholarships must be seeking an Associate Degree at a CCCS institution; have a maximum of 15 credit hours remaining to earn a degree; be enrolled full-or part-time; be able to complete their degree in the term in which they are applying for a scholarship; be a Colorado resident; and have unmet financial need. Full requirements are available at the Financial Aid Office of each institution. Last Mile Scholarships will be available until the funds are fully distributed.
