Special to the Herald TimesRBC I The Bill of Rights Institute is proud to announce that the Daniels Fund will provide five full scholarships to Colorado high school students to attend the Constitutional Academy, the nation’s premier program for high school students to study the Constitution.The Academy is a five-week distance learning program that culminates in a week-long residential program in Washington, D.C. The Academy’s academics challenge and enrich students as they read and study works written by and about the leading minds of the American Founding Era. Participating students will discuss the ideals of the American Founding along with contemporary issues in weekly online reading discussions with students from across the country and university scholars.During the educational week in Washington, D.C., students will work with historical documents at the National Archives and visit landmark sites including George Washington’s Mount Vernon and Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello. Upon completion of the program, students earn three college credits from Ashland University.This summer’s Washington D.C. program dates are July 17-23 or July 24-30, 2011.The application deadline is April 15, 2011.
