RANGELY I The Rangely High School cross country team ran their first meet of the year, competing in the 11-team Central Warrior Invitational in Grand Junction.

The Panther varsity boys were led by sophomore distance man Patrick Scoggins, who finished eighth overall with a time of 17.22.
RHS sophomore Brennan Noyes, took 40th place with a time of 21:20, not that far off from his personal best.
Panther junior Savannah Nielsen was the only varsity girl with a time of 23:06, and she placed 22nd overall.
Sophomores Cameron Filfred and Caleb Noel ran their first cross country meet.
“They both did well for their first meet, they have been working hard the last couple of weeks, and it was good to see what they could do in a meet,” coach Beth Scoggins said.
Filfred ran a 28:15 and took 42nd in the junior varsity meet. Caleb Noel placed 43rd with a time of 29:16 in the junior varsity meet.
Sophomore Miekka Peck, freshman Phalon Osborn and freshman RaeLynn Norman also ran in the junior varsity meet. Osborn placed 7th with a time of 25:51, followed by Norman placing 8th with a time of 25:58. Peck turned in a 34:26 time and placed 30th.
“It is fun to have a full girls and boys team,” Scoggins said. “I feel we have a lot of talent that we haven’t quite untapped yet,” Scoggins said.
