RANGELY I Rangely’s Wil-liam Scoggins finished 17th at the state cross country meet, but he was hoping for better.
“It’s pretty disappointing as both William and Devin (Williams) were sick,” Matt Scoggins said. “I wish I could have done something different to keep them from catching the bug, but such is life. All three (Rangely runners who qualified for state) ran very hard, but unfortunately didn’t have their best races. The kids who took fifth and sixth in the meet are the same kids William beat a week ago. Thankfully for William it is only his sophomore year, but unfortunately for Devin it was his senior year.”
Rangely results
William Scoggins, 17th, 18:43
Blake Wanstedt, 49th, 20:28
Devin Williams, 70th, 22:11
Team finished 10th.

MEEKER I Meeker’s only runner to qualify for state — Krissie Harman — finished 47th in a field of 66 runners. Her time was 24:04.
“We had wonderful weather for state,” Meeker coach Kris Casey said. “The course site changed this year to the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds. The course had some rolling hills. Krissie was the first race of the day. She pushed herself perhaps a little too fast in her first mile; she had a 6.37 one mile split. This is a bit faster than she normally runs. Shortly after the first mile there was a long hill, which she worked very well. Krissie unfortunately got sick at the top of the hill, but continued to run the race.”
