MEEKER I For a fourth year in a row, Rangely’s William Scoggins has won the annual Run For Your Life 5K held in Meeker during the 130th annual Range Call Celebration.
More than 160 men and women ran the race, and 143 walked the 3.1 miles.
Scoggins completed the 5K in 17:51, about 20 seconds faster than his time last year and about 40 seconds faster than his younger brother, Patrick, who won his age division and finished second overall.
Winners were named in nine age divisions and 76-year old John Isaac was the oldest male to run.
Twenty-nine year-old Ashlee Sinner was the fastest woman, running the new course in 23:53. Eleven-year-old Savannah Mendenhall won the youngest division and Mona Avey won the 60-69 year old division.
For a second year in a row, although slower than last, Sydney Hughes and Piper Haney were two of three girls to cross the finish line at the same time, and, this year, Reagan Pearce joined them.
The trio of Meeker High School graduates finished the walk in 37:16, less than a minute ahead of Natalie Steiner.
Nine-year-old Gabriel Smithers was the first male to walk across the finish line.
