RBC | During September 2009, the Rio Blanco County Communications Center experienced a 15.5 percent decrease in activity compared to September 2008.
Total incidents received through the communications center decreased to 836 in September 2009, down from 978 in September 2008. September was the first month in 2009 that the number of incidents fell below 1,000. The number of calls for service decreased for the sheriff’s office with 196 incidents in September 2009, down from 248 in September 2008. Traffic stops decreased slightly from 378 in September 2008 to 367 in September 2009 for the sheriff’s office. The Meeker P.D. responded to 155 calls for service during September 2009, down from 233 in September 2008. Traffic stops for the Meeker P.D. increased from 74 stops in September 2008 to 94 stops in September 2009.
Activity for both agencies included these most notable classifications: 461 traffic stops; 42 VIN inspections; 29 motorist assists; 27 animal calls; 24 suspicious incidents; 22 traffic arrests; 18 citizen assists; 17 civil situations; 15 traffic complaints; 13 warrant arrests; 12 abandoned vehicles; 11 accidents with property damage; 11 incidents assisting the Colorado State Patrol; 11 incidents assisting other agencies; 10 disturbances; 10 thefts; three assaults; three domestic violence calls; three narcotics cases; three search and rescues; three trespass cases; two hit and run accidents; two burglaries; two DUIs; two fraud cases; two harassment cases; two restraining order violations; one injury accident; one child abuse case; one criminal mischief case; and one suicide.
During September 2009, the Rio Blanco County Detention Center housed a daily average of 14.61 inmates, with 13.23 males and 0.93 females. The number of bookings decreased in September 2009 with 70 people processed in the detention center, down from 81 bookings in August 2009. Of the 70 people processed, 56 were jailed and 14 were booked and released. The number of meals served by the detention center decreased from 1,320 meals served in August 2009 to 1,072 meals served in September 2009.
The Rangely Police Department reported their communications center logged 489 incidents during September 2009. Of those incidents, the most noteworthy classifications for the Rangely P.D. include: 210 traffic contacts; 18 VIN inspections; 17 citizen assists; 15 arrests; 13 animal calls; 11 incidents assisting the Rio Blanco Sheriff’s Office; eight disturbances; seven suspicious incidents; six damaged/stolen property cases; three incidents assisting the Division of Wildlife; four lock-outs; four warrant arrests; three harassment cases; two vandalism cases; one incident assisting the Colorado State Patrol; one DUI arrest and one narcotics case.
