Septemberfest comes once again, Sept. 3-5

RANGELY I Rangely’s annual Septemberfest is just around the corner and this year new activities are planned along with the traditional fun for all participants. The event will take place Saturday, Sept. 3 through Monday, Sept. 5, kicking off with your choice of the Uintah Railroad tour or the Buzzard 5K walk/run. The railroad tour is an all-day adventure and everyone is invited. Bring your own vehicle, food, drinks and snacks and meet at Elks Park at 7:30 a.m. If exercise is more your style, join the Buzzard 5K walk/run that begins at 8 a.m. The cost is $15 if you would like a T-shirt. The traditional bike rally, sponsored by the Rangely Police Department, will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.  “Day in the Park” starts at 1:30 p.m. and is sponsored by the WRBM District and the Rangely Police Department. To complete a fun-filled Saturday, the second annual Rock ‘n Bull ‘n Barrels will begin at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $20 for VIP tickets, $10 for adults and $5 for kids, children three and under are free. Sunday kicks off at 1:30 p.m. with the wildly popular ice cream social, followed by the team cribbage tournament at 2:30 p.m. The tournament will be a single elimination tournament with a consolation bracket in place. The cost is $20 per team of two. The wiffle ball world series begins at 3 p.m. and is $10 per team of two. The ATV mud bog begins at 6 p.m. and the chili cook-off contest at 6:15 p.m.  Monday’s events get started early. Bring your appetite for the fireman’s pancake breakfast from 6:30-8:30 a.m. leading up to the Do-Da Parade. Parade entry forms must be turned in to the chamber of commerce or recreation center by Aug. 31. After the parade, several events are planned at Elks Park including the craft fair, Art in the Park and car show. The Rangely Hurricanes swim team will host water fights, a slime pool and a coin toss, and the Rangely High School football team will have a simulator set up. The Rangely Animal Shelter will host their dog show at 10 a.m. and the annual barbecue is scheduled from 1-3 p.m. This is a must-attend event at only $2 per person. The barbecue will feature the Yampa Valley Boys bluegrass music and leads into the Win It In A Minute challenges sponsored by the WRBM District at 2:30. The annual duck race concludes the fun at 5 p.m. at the Green River Bridge.Septemberfest is an outstanding event designed for family fun and entertainment.
