MEEKER I Traditionally, a free community dinner has been held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Thanksgiving.
This year, the free Thanksgiving dinner will be offered again, from noon to 2:30 p.m. at Holy Family, 889 Park.
The Thanksgiving dinner will be the kick off of a new soup kitchen, which will be available every Thursday from 5:30 to 7 p.m., starting Dec. 2, but at a different location — at Richards Hall, at St. James Episcopal Church, at the corner of Fourth and Park streets.
The soup kitchen — called Breaking Bread Ministry — is an effort by “an ecumenical group of people in the community, from church groups to other groups within our community, who wanted to reach out to people who may be missing a meal,” said Johnny Arrington, pastor of the Meeker United Methodist Church and member of the Meeker Ministerial Alliance.
