RANGELY | The CNCC rodeo team returned yesterday from the first of 10 total regional rodeos (five fall rodeos, five spring rodeos). They competed well with some solid results for our young team.
Freshman all-around cowgirl Makenah Faircloth placed fifth in the first round of the barrel racing, and third overall in the team roping with her partner Blayden Pollit (CMU). Veteran cowgirl Taylor Duzik, paired with CNCC alum Rhett Nielson, placed fifth overall in the team roping. Another solid freshman performance was turned in by Austin Romans who placed ninth overall in the tie down roping.
“Regardless of the scoreboard, our athletes are all making great improvements and as this season progresses, I know they will continue to evolve into top competitors,” said CNCC rodeo coach Jed Moore.
Points earned at each regional rodeo are compiled at year’s end to determine the region’s top three competitors in each event who will earn a berth to the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo.
“The Spartans will travel to Pocatello, Idaho, this weekend for the Idaho State University Bengal Roundup, if you see them on campus, be sure to let them know we’re all behind them,” Moore said.
