Scarecrow Contest Winners:
Funniest—El Agave’s taco scarecrow, first place; Rangely Public Works, second; Kolton and Daxton Wilczek, third. Scariest—Ed Miller’s “Jeepers Creepers” inspired scarecrow; Bertha Tolley, second; Rangely Conoco, third.
Most Creative: White River Village with their interactive scarecrow display, followed by Rio Blanco Schools Federal Credit Union, and Giant Step Preschool.
Pumpkin Carving Contest Winners:
Funniest: Sylvia Dembowsi’s purple witch took first followed by Blaine Buckler and Amariah Whiston.
Scariest: Marlena Miller, first; Rebekah Kerksieck, second; and Mallorie Miller third. Most Creative: New Parkview Elementary art teacher Jessica Navarro with her “Nightmare Before Christmas” pumpkin, first; Bertha Tolley, second; Heather Sowsonicut, third place.
Billgren announced the winners on Facebook Live at 6 p.m. in front of a crowded Chamber of Commerce board room audience. The Chamber would like to thank the community for participating, judges who took the time to travel to all the scarecrow participants homes and businesses, and the event sponsors: Rangely Police Department, Rangely Community Gardens, White River Market, Moon Lake Electric and Nichols Store. Event winners were treated to chamber bucks which can be used at any participating Rangely businesses.
