Subsidies available

RBC I The Colorado Workforce announced July 28 the availability of wage subsidy funding for regional businesses to hire new employees. The program is made available through the region’s allocation of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act workforce development funding.
The program offers up to 100 percent of a new hire’s wages to be subsidized. Subsidies will be determined by type of position being filled and skill level of applicant.
Colorado Workforce is looking to establish partnerships with businesses that will hire and retain long-term employees in several industries, including energy, construction/skilled trades, health care, lodging and restaurants. Employers should have job openings where on-the-job training will assist applicants in building skills above entry level. Subsidy funds remain to be expended by Sept. 30.
To be considered for the program, a business must be located in Colorado for at least 120 days, pay into workers’ compensation and unemployment insurance, and not have laid-off employees on Unemployment Job-Attached status. Subsidies are only available for full-time positions that provide at least 32 hours of work per week.
For more information or to apply for the program, businesses should contact the Meeker Workforce Center at 878-4211 or the Rangely Workforce Center at 675-5072.
