A Loveland citizen has filed with the City Clerk’s Office a protest of petitions seeking a ballot measure setting a two-year moratorium on the practice of hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, to recover oil and gas within the city limits of Loveland.
The protest by Loveland resident Larry Sarner was filed Friday, the date set as the deadline to protest the petition by citizen’s group Protect Our Loveland.
City Clerk Terry Andrews, after a review of signatures collected by Protect Our Loveland organizers, determined on July 23 that the group had met requirements to place the proposed ordinance on the November general election ballot.
