MEEKER | The Meeker Cowboys took 10 athletes to Denver last weekend to participate in the Nite Move Last Chance Meet. The USA Track and Field sanctioned meets are part of an overall larger circuit of meets and this was the last one of the season that will be hosted in Colorado.
“Our kids had a great time and gained some valuable experience,” said Meeker head coach John Strate.
“They had approached me about going and it was great to be able to take so many. Highlights of the meet included most of the team getting the opportunity to throw the javelin. Javelin is not an event offered at Colorado High School Athletic Association sport at sanctioned meets, but USA Track and Field meets do offer it.”
Traveling to Denver for the Cowboys were Emma Knez, Savanah Mendenhall, Autumn Hobbs, Sarah Kracht and Aspen Merrifield, Cooper Main, Ryan Phelan, Carter Strate, Zach Eskeson and Porter Hossack.
